Spotify Jumps back in time when I continue the shuffle the next day

Spotify Jumps back in time when I continue the shuffle the next day

I'll be listening to my playlist in shuffle mode whilst I'm at work. When I finish, I pause it and lock my phone.

The next day when I get to work, I hit play again to continue where I left off.

However, I find that it has jumped back a few dozen songs, as I remember seeing these same songs in the same order the day before. After a few dozen skips, I'm back to new territory. Why is it forgetting where it was up to?

Hey @NathanielPillar,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community.

That's a weird behavior since the tracks should play in different order if you're using Shuffle mode. If this behavior is happening on a single device, it's possible that this could be related to the stored cache. So first, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps mentioned in this article

If the issue persists, would you mind turning the Shuffle mode off and back on to see if it makes any difference?

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

Well I was hoping to avoid pressing the shuffle button again, as I wanted
to make sure it eventually plays through the whole playlist without
repeating. If I reshuffle, it'll repeat some songs I've already played etc.

Hey @NathanielPillar,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the clarification.

In that case, would you mind confirming if this happens with all playlists you've tried or if it's just a specific one?

Also, would you mind checking on a different device (using your own account) to see if it makes any difference? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it out.

Lastly, and if the clean reinstall previously mentioned didn't make any difference, include in your next response the make, model, and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.

We'll be on the lookout.

Been having this issue myself, I've even gotten a new phone, so reinstalling doesn't help and the issue keeps happening with all playlists. Currently on version 9.0.88.1405 (android).

Hey @J_Whittle98,

Thanks for sharing this with us.

Could you let us know what your affected devices are (make+model), as well as their OS versions?
We'd also like to know if this happens only after at least a few hours of inactivity or during the day as well.

Much appreciated. We'll be on the lookout for your response.
