My Question or Issue
This issue started happening about a month ago, after an update.
Whenever Spotify is connected to my car's bluetooth, everytime I open the app or switch back to the app, Spotify will start playing a random playlist from my library.
For example, I load up my que, start my car, connect to bluetooth, open the app to hit play, then Spotify will automatically switch to another random playlist from my library and clear the que I've just made.
OR I will be listening to a playlist I've chosen, momentarily switch to another app to watch a short video, then switch back to Spotify when I'm done to resume what I was listening to. But Spotify will again take control and switch to ANOTHER playlist instead of letting me resume the one I was just listening to not even two minutes before.
This issue is driving me absolutely crazy and I've been searching the web trying to find a solution.
I've tried looking through the app settings, changing autoplay settings in Android Auto clearing my cache, deleting and reinstalling the app, I've even tried renaming my car's bluetooth hoping Spotify would think it's a regular speaker, but nothing works.
Please help! It's honesty ruining my enjoyment of the app.
Hi there folks,
Thanks for the replies. We're looking deeper into this and in order to investigate the issue, we'll need some more specific info about your setups, similar to how @XDanW has provided. Could you please provide us the following:
With this information, we’d be happy to investigate.
Keep us posted.
Hey @XDanW,
Thanks for the additional info!
Everyone else, can you confirm whether you're still experiencing this? We'd like to forward the issue to our tech team so If you haven't provided the details requested by @Joan above, please do so at it will help speed up the investigation.
Cheers,
I installed Spotify in my car but when I select a playlist to play instead of just playing songs from my playlist I get random songs . I find that the random songs are playing more than the actual songs in my playist.
Im also having this issue (have done for some months now).
It is driving me insane, I have to remember to start playback on my phone before setting off and allow for the change to a random podcast/playlist so I can restart/queue what I actually wanted to listen to.
Even more frustratingly I am now finding I’ll be listening to a podcast, leave the car, come back to the car to find the app will now start playing the last podcast I finished listening to at the time stamp I was at in the new podcast I had been listening to before getting out of the car. I then have to not only switch over to what I was previously listening to but also clear the old podcast Spotify starts randomly playing so it appears as ‘listened to’ again and doesn’t appear in my suggestions.

My Question or Issue
I added a playlist (I think that's what it is) called Monstercat Silk to spotify. I normally DO NOT listen to music - I listen to Podcasts.
The issue is that when I am in the car and a podcast is finished, then I leave the car and come back. As soon as the Bluetooth reconnects, the very loud and jarring 1st song on Monstercat starts playing because there is no in-progress podcast (or any other in-progress content). Autoplay is TURNED OFF in the settings. I have tried removing the checkmark from the track too. I have also removed and reinstalled the app and cleared all downloaded and cached content. Nothing works to get rids of this annoying playlist.
How do I removed Monstercat Silk (or any other content that I don't want to listen to anymore)? I don't want it to appear on my Spotify Home page on the app, start autoplaying, or ever see it again.
Why is that particular playlist always the one that starts?
If I have autoplay off, why does anything start at all??
Very frustrated.
Thank you.
