Samsung Galaxy S10, running Android 10 on the November security patch
For the past couple months, Spotify is killing my Play store downloads. As long as Spotify is installed, 90% of the time I go to download apps, they will get stuck in a "pending" or "downloading" state. Force stopping Spotify will allow the apps to download after waiting a few minutes. I factory reset again last night and everything was working perfectly all day. I downloaded Spotify this evening, and an hour later, Play store downloads were stalling again. As soon as I uninstalled Spotify, they immediately downloaded. This is a major issue and I've been back and forth with Spotify support multiple times and have gotten little to no help. I love Spotify, and don't want to leave, but my patience is nearly gone.
Really hoping someone can help me out here.
Thanks
Hey everyone,
Thanks for your patience while we looked into this.
We've gotten word from the relevant team that such issues can be caused by a faulty Bluetooth connection, which leads to unexpected behavior with some apps. We recommend that you follow these steps and see if the issue gets resolved:
Keep us posted if this does the trick. We’ll keep an eye out for your replies.
In case it is of any use. I wanted to update to say I've downloaded the latest version of Spotify that was released a few days ago and the exact same issue is still occuring.
Version 8.5.93.445
Thanks
Hey there @joshw111,
Thank you for your reply and for keeping us updated.
We've passed the information to the rightful team.
If you have any questions we're always one reply away.
Take care!
Received another app update. Issue is still occuring.
You don't have enough space memory
Thanks for the reply. However, I have tons of storage remaining on both internal and as card.
Clear downloads
VPN is off
Have tried clearing cache already
Not sure what you mean by clear downloads? Like, android os downloads?
How should I go about fixing the time and date? It seems to be correct already.
Thanks for your input!
Just thought it was worth mentioning that I've just updated to android 11 and using the latest app version and this is still an issue.
Wipe and clean the whole device and reboot it. android soft reboot.
Sadly, I've tried that multiple times and it's made no difference.
Can you kindly explain steps you took ??
All troubleshooting I've performed have been listed in my previous comments on this thread.
I have the same issue. For a few months, Spotify is killing all my Google Play Store downloads, preventing downloading attachments on Gmail, and other Google related services. I have factory reset my device multiples times, even tried reinstalling Oxygen OS with the recovery tool from OnePlus. If I force quit Spotify, I don't have this issue.
Only solution is to stay on an older Spotify Update (using 8.5.**bleep**.834) and I don't have that issue.
Device: OnePlus 7 GM1900 running Oxygen OS 10.3.8

Wow! After all this time I finally find someone else having the issue. Same exact problems as me, and it's the same app version that still works for me. Sorry to hear you're having the issue, but glad I'm not alone. I've even had my account recreated on the Spotify side, losing all my listening history and whatnot, and still no solution. I was chatting with support this morning for what must be the tenth time. After we went through all the usual stuff, I was told they would be opening a "case" and that this would get it more attention than just posting here. Hopefully this gives us a solution as I'm running out of patience. I'll be sure to let you know the results of that, if there are any. Still haven't received an email or anything yet to confirm that a "case" has been created. So I'm not super hopeful.
Thanks for posting!
Thank you for giving any information on solving this issue, if it is ever solved by Spotify. I got really tired of force quit Spotify whenever I wanted to download an app, etc. I just took a free 3 months Apple Music subscription. If its working without having me to force quit the app I’ll probably make the switch. I have reach Spotify once regarding that issue a few months (october), I love Spotify but I don’t have enough time to fight with them to have this resolved. But I would really appreciate if you are able to find a solution with their support team.
I was using Google Play Music for over 7 years and I had to intention to switch, and now I have used 2 streaming service in under 6 months.
I can only wish you good luck!
Same here! I was a google play music guy pretty much from it's inception until it changed to youtube music. I switched to spotify because it has support for more devices that I own (android, ios, roku, tizen, windows dedicated app,etc)... But, if it breaks other essential functions of my phone, I can't justify keeping it.
It seems like support has just listed the typical troubleshooting steps and are now nowhere to be seen. I also still have not received email confirmation regarding the "case" they opened for me yesterday. I'll just have to wait and see I guess.
I'll let you know if I ever find a fix.
Thanks!
I've already provided spotify with a screen capture video showing the issue occurring as I described it, so I don't really need any further proof for spotify.
I'll give it a try though for my own curiosity.
Thanks
Try too grant permission to install unknown apps there's a huge bug on android at the moment it doesn't matter if you had that option open before go check to see if its open to grant permission to install unknown apps
