Spotify app taking up 3.5Gb of data in internal storage

I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times; when first installed it takes a gig or so (still huge and I don't understand why), but then it mysteriously keeps growing. I only download songs to my SD card, but somehow the app still takes up 3.5 gigs. Clearing the cache is only a few hundred Kb. What to do?? It's really annoying to keep removing the app, because then I have to redownload all of my saved music.
