Spotify bluetooth streaming problems

Streaming through bluetooth is causing spotify to pause for a few seconds, silently, continue counting up on track lapse time then go back to where it left off and continue. It does it several times per track then eventually just gives up. I've had a recent phone software update and also a spotify update so not sure which is causing issue. This problem occurs when streaming to different devices. Any advice appreciated.
