Spotify does not play search results with Google assistant voice search

Hi community,

my problem is the following:

I'm using the Google assistant voice search (for ex. in android auto) to play a song from spotify (free version). Spotify then opens and plays the correct artist but chooses another song. For example:

I search "Kiss me from Dermot Kennedy" - Spotify always plays "Something to someone".
If I search "something to someone" it will always play "kiss me".

Curiously, when I check the search results it shows me the correct song. It just decides to play another song every time! And it always plays the same wrong song. It doesn't even include the correct song in the playlist.

What's going on here? Am I going insane or am I just stupidly blind to the solution?

Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, only the Premium version of Spotify offers on-demand listening. A radio station of the requested song will be played when you're in the Free version. This might be the reason why you're getting other songs by the same artist.

I have this issue as well, but I am a premium user. I have an issue where I give Google the song, artist, and album, and Google still gives the wrong song. For example, if I say, "Hey Google, play Sunset Waltz from the Final Fantasy XV original soundtrack" Google gives me a piano cover of the song instead.

Also, I notice that Google will always choose a remix over the original song.  For example, if I want to hear Slaves of Fear by Health from the eponymous album Slaves of Fear, it will give me a remix from another artist.

Saying "Original" doesn't seem to help. Is there a way to filter out remixes, prefer the original, or just get Google to listen to the entire command?
