Hi,
Since Sunday (17/05/2015) Spotify has stopped working on my mobile phone, up until then I had had no issues with the Spotify app on my phone. On Sunday I clicked on the app to start Spotify, as normal, and it opened a black screen with the menu symbol in the top left hand corner of the screen, at this point the phone became unresponsive for about a minute and then restarted itself; I attempted to start the app several more times with the same results.
I tried uninstalling and re-installing the app several times, again with the same results. I then checked online and was directed here from the Spotify website; I searched through previous posts and have attempted several of the suggestions posted regarding a clean install of the software, still with no success. The one issue I had when attempting a clean re-install was that I was unable to find, and therefore remove, any additional Spotify data files in the Android system?
Finally I have resorted to a factory reset of my phone (attempted twice), removing all apps and data and starting from scratch; Spotify is still behaving in exactly the same way, freezing, making the phone unresponsive, and automatically restarting after a minute or so.
My phone only has internal memory, with 12GB of free space, there is no SD card.

DesktopmSpotify version - 1.0.4.90.g0b6df40b

Nice one Daniel 🙂 I used the previous version of the app (2.6.0.813) and it loaded straight away. Is there any way to prevent it from automatically updating?
Much respect and many thanks brother 🙂
Hi Gary, I am having the same problem, but mine has been almost all of May. I have an Alcatel phone as well, with the same Android Version, Jellybean and Kernal version are the same as well. Only difference is that my provider is Vodafone. I have also tried all the steps, and also cannot find the files mentioned in file manager. I have logged an official support request with Spotify and have been waiting over two weeks for answers.

Please read the guide linked below for details on the most common issues and how to fix them. Usually a clean install is the first step to take and resolves most of the usual issues; the guide details the steps to take to ensure a full 'clean installation' is achieved - This includes checking redundant folders and a REBOOT!

Have you tried without the SD card? You may have to try factory resetting your phone?
It definately seems like an issue on your device; if it weren't there would be lots of reports of this.
Hi Guys
I've not been able to access Spotify on my Galaxy S5 now for a few weeks and interestingly there are many more in a similar situation if you read back through the recent reviews of Spotify in the Google Play store.
I was happily using 3.8 and it seems since my phone has updated to Spotify 3.9 the app has been unusable, I have rolled back to 3.8 however this didn't resolve the issue.
I've factory reset my phone and tried everything, only seems to affect my S5 though for some reason, I've now resolved my issue in a fashion by turning on installation for unknown sources and I bluetoothed the .apk installer for Spotify 2.7 to my device and Spotify is now working again (for now) I'd like to be using the latest version so please fix this Spotify!!!!!!!!!!!!
