My Question or Issue
Spotify randomly stops playing music and podcasts. This only happens when the device does not have an internet connection. Every other music app I have works fine offline so its definitely something wrong with Spotify. Here is what I tried so far:
A lot of people have this problem and it really seems is some seriously misguided attempt to force the users to stay online rather than an actual bug.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that yes, this happens when Spotify itself is set to Offline Mode and there is no Internet connection. Weirdly enough if Spotify is set to Offline Mode and the phone does have an internet connection it works fine, but what's the point if you have an offline mode (which you have to pay for) which does not work if your phone has to be online?
Hey @user-removed,
Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.
Spotify Premium will stop working if you're experiencing connectivity issues and the Offline Mode is not activated for your downloaded content to be played even without data connection.
It might sound obvious, but I feel like suggesting the following since I wasn't able to confirm that you tried it already: would you mind taking a look at the info here and double-checking you downloaded the content (music and podcasts) you'd like to play even without an internet connection as well as double-checking that you set the app to Offline Mode successfully?
We're looking forward to your update and we're here to help with anything else too!
Like several thousand other people apparently, I have the same problem offline which only started relatively recently. Since then I've tried all the fixes (reinstall, stop battery saver, stop screen widget, stop all bluetooth connections, restarts) without success.

I'm also getting the same problem on an I Phone.
If it carries on, I'll be cancelling my account, I'm paying for music that I can't listen to.
Hey @bs36,
Thanks for reaching about this here.
Have you already checked my reply to @user-removed and followed the related suggestions?
In case that didn't do the trick, let us know so we can go on and start suggesting some relevant trouble-shooting to keep taking care of this with you.

Apologies for not adding this to my original post, but this happens as well when Spotify is set to offline mode and the phone is not connected to the internet.
Can confirm this is an issue on Android. Renders the app useless for now.
