Spotify resumes playing after being stopped

This may just be some issue with my phone, but I've been having a problem where Spotify will awake again after I have stopped playing a song, and supposedly quit out of the application, and locked the the screen, maybe even pulled out my earphones. Little annoying to be standing in an elevator with a crowd and the phone in my bag comes alive and starts playing some tune. Anyone else experience this?  I do have kind of an old phone, Samsung Galaxy S Relay (love a physical keyboard) and it's running Cyanogenmod, so it is kind of a funky setup.  I'm planning on upgrading to Nexus 5x, so this problem might just go away.
