Spotify still plays songs when the app isn't running

After I clear Spotify from the list of running apps,, which closes the app, it still plays music

Which version of Android are you running + which version of the Spotify app do you have installed?

Have you tried a quick reinstall to see if that helps?

This just happened to me. I'm running android 6.0.1 on a LG K10

Once it went to adds and all the adds went through it stopped.

I have had this happen for years on various phones. Many uninstall and cancel premium (through frustration) and many install and subscribe (as what else is there)... Never found a solution.
