Spotify unpauses by accident

I have a physical pause/unpause button on my Blackberry Key2 (Oreo 8 point something). In fact, it's a "convenience key" that I programmed with a 3rd party app (Button Mapper) to work as such. The problem is, after I turn off Spotify, pushing said button makes the app run and play music. I often push it accidentaly (it protrudes from the edge of the phone and lays close to power button so I often mistake one for another) making my music play when I don't need it.

I tried muting media sounds but it's tiresome (I'd rather just close the app and forget it), also it often makes me find Spotify having silently played 20 songs because I unwilligly pushed the button 2 hours ago.

Any tips on how to kill Spotify so that it doesn't secretly run in the background and doesn't get activated with physical pause/unpause button?
