Only way to bypass is through toggling unlimited data button in the Android Datsaver setting. Even keeping the datasaver function off, but toggling the unlimited data button for Spotify temporarily fixes it.

I have exactly the same problem with the same model motorola edge 40 neo, before the problem occurred, the sound was wonderful, but when I started to have the problem the sound deteriorated, even though I activated the audio restriction (temporary solution ).

Happens basically each time I turn off WiFi and turn on data. Remedy is to re-enforce the unlimited data for Spotify. Each time I switch to data I need to repeat this process.

Could the rest of you folks also send us the exact version of Spotify you're running? It's also worth making sure that you're running the latest system updates for your device.

Even if you do the above and set the background battery and mobile data usage to unlimited from the device settings, the sound quality settings will be grayed out after several startups, and the message "You can't change this setting when Android's data saver is on" will appear. It shows
I have the Spotify update from januari 8th, 8.9.4.304. Issue is still there. Almost everytime connecting via Bluetooth to a car, headset etc. the issue returns.
This problem has not been resolved at this point, but has Spotify given up on solving it?
There's one escape I got but not using right now. Accidentally the quality was set to very high when it got grayed out. So audio quality wasn't a problem but the Canvas feat got grayed out 🤦

I'm glad to at least know that some other people with the same device have the same issue. It seems that thankfully the Spotify team is currently working on it. I just would like to add my situation as well. My phone is Motorola Edge 40 with Android 13 installed. My Spotify App keeps changing back the audio quality settings of mobile streaming to Low and then both of WiFi and mobile streaming are greyed out. Canvas setting is also greyed out. Android's data saver is never on. I clean installed Spotify App and for a while it worked fine - letting me change the audio quality. However, after a while the problem happened again...

Thank you for tackling this issue. I updated the app to the version 8.9.8.545 but sadly the issue persisted. Then I tried the clean install, which didn't work, either 😞
