My Question or Issue

I've noticed I am no longer able to add to or remove from my 'liked songs' playlist. For a song that isn't in the playlist, tapping the heart icon does nothing and no notification is shown. If I find a song that is already in my liked songs and tap the heart icon to remove it, it says 'Removed from Liked Songs' but the icon remains 'filled in' and the song stays in the playlist.

I have already tried uninstalling, restarting, then reinstalling the app.

Hey @jake123-321,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Community.

Just to confirm, have you tried a clean reinstall of the Spotify app on your device? We recommend the steps in that guide, as they’re very thorough and make sure no damaged leftover files remain. These changes tend to solve issues like the one you're experiencing. Give your device a quick restart as well before you open the newly installed app.

If that doesn't do the trick, could you give it a go on another device or on our web player? Are you able to manage your Liked songs correctly there?

Keep us posted. We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Hi

I have just done a clean install following your link and the issue
persists.

I've just tried on Windows 10 desktop version, and on an Android 8 tablet
and it works fine on both of those.

Hey @jake123-321,

Thanks for your reply.

Could you let us know if the same happens when using a different connection, like another WiFi network and mobile data?

Additionally, can you tell us how many songs you have in your Liked Songs playlist, and how much storage space you have available in your phone?

We'll be on the lookout.

Hi, yes the same thing happens on mobile data or on a different network.

I've got 327 songs in Liked Songs. 2.2GB free in internal storage, 10GB
free on SD card.

Hey there @jake123-321,

Thanks for getting back to us.

No worries, there are also a few other things we can try. Can you make sure that Spotify has all necessary permissions enabled?

  1. Open your Settings menu.

  2. Scroll to the bottom to find Spotify and open the app settings.

  3. Enable everything you see.

It's also a good idea to exclude the app from any Battery optimization software that might be active on your smartphone.

Lastly, could you check if the OS of your phone has any pending updates?

Keep us posted on how it goes.

Hi

I've enabled all permissions for it now. My OS has no pending updates.
Still the same issue I'm afraid.
