android alarm clock (and maybe other notifications) auto starts spotify

Running Spotify 8.4.4.810 on a Samsung s5 running 6.0.1.  When my android alarm goes off, it automatically starts spotify when I snooze or dismiss it.  I tried disabling notifictions in Spotify but that has no effect.  How does one stop Spotify from automatically starting like it's possessed the phone?

Best thing to try here is a reinstall. Just follow these steps.

If that doesn't work, please try restarting your device.
