where are my songs?

I have a note  3 with playlists on it. Is it my understanding  that I can't put these on my laptop or any other device. In other words, all  I can do is play them, I can't copy them?

Any spotify playlists on your android will also appear on any other devices on which you run spotify. If you mean playlists of MP3s created using some other music player then you would need to copy those to your PC and can then import them into spotify.

I want to keep what I've downloaded and then leave spotify

Any downloaded content will become inaccessible once your Premium subscription runs out. The record companies would be most upset if it was possible to join for a month, download 10,000 tracks and leave but still have access to their music.
