Is there a way to block unwanted and despised genres and artists from my home page

My home page keeps suggesting a genre and some of the so-called 'artists" from that genre, even though I hate and never listen to that genre or any of the so-called "artists" from that genre. How do I block the unwanted genre and so-called "artists" of that genre from contaminating my home page?
