Liked songs not showing a heart when played

Liked songs not showing a heart when played

My Spotify is basically unusable now because all of the songs I spent two years collecting and adding hearts next to… no longer show as green. Just an empty, clear heart icon that I now have to press AGAIN if I want to see the icon turn green. I will now have to go back and manually put a green heart icon next to like 2600 songs in my library because my brain cannot distinguish between “songs I’ve never heard/don’t like and songs that I do like aka green heart” . The songs that used to have green hearts (the 2600 songs in my library) still show in my liked songs playlist, but when I click on those “liked songs” to play them it does not show a green heart- just a clear heart icon. For example, my favorite band is Dayshell so I put a green heart next to most songs. When I listen to those songs, the green heart is no longer green. But the songs are in my playlists as liked. I can no longer distinguish between songs I like and songs I don’t like/haven’t heard. For me, the green heart is like leaving a marker on a tree on a trail so you don’t get lost aka I’ve already been here. wth is this please make it stop I have tried uninstalling and clearing cache and all of that. I am SO TIRED OF BEING A STUPID GUINEA PIG for awful changes that destroy my listening experience- premium account by the way on iOS 16.2

Hi @Wreckitrocco21

This is an ongoing experiment by Spotify. I understand the frustration, however, it seems weird that the hearts are still visible to you. I believe they're supposed to be completely removed.

There is currently no way to opt out or return back to the previous layout.

Please read and leave your thoughts in this thread.

I’m not loving the “experiment” at all. It completely removes a great experience and it makes the app so much worse. I thinks. Lot of people agree, it’s worse when you can’t even see the likes. It should be reverted or at least made into a toggle-able option in settings.

As of yesterday, there are no hearts AT ALL. Anywhere. if i click on whatever song is now playing, i can see a plus sign icon  (+) on the right hand side. This is completely useless, as it does not replace the functionality of the heart. It is a completely different feature that does something completely different than the heart feature. You cant even see the (+) sign feature unless you click play and then click now playing. Again, i still have no idea which songs i know/like compared to songs i have never heard. If i am staring at a list of 500 songs, they all look completely the same (untouched).

example of why this is going to make me stop paying spotify: if i like a song and i want to hear it later, i have two options: 1. memorize the title and artwork and hope i can remember next time i want to hear the song or 2. Add the song to a playlist. I now have to stop what im doing, click the plus (+) sign, create a new playlist or add the song to another playlist. If i want to hear that song again, i have to go search my playlists.

i do not put every song that i like on a playlist.  I don’t have time to do that nor do i want to. I do not have any other digital forms of entertainment/streaming services that do not allow me to use a thumbs up/down sort of feature.

Is there any way you can make spotify remove this feature for me and revert back to the spotify i was using a week ago? If i cancel my subscription and start completely over, will i get the heart back? I cannot use the app if it stays like this permanently

p.s. the photo below is what my spotify looks like now. Just billions of songs that i may or may not have heard before who knows
