New Desktop App Issues and Lack of Updates

The new desktop app was released a few months ago and forced on users there has seemingly been next to nothing done to fix the numerous issues and suggestions people have suggested in the threads on this forum.

EX. The-New-Desktop-App thread

It looks like you(Spotify) are not reading the feedback and making the changes people suggest.  I've only seen one post from a Spotify person and when my app updates I no notice no meaningful changes have been made.

Please communicate to us what is being done to address the issues that have been brought up and timeline for when we can expect to them released.

If there are no plans to address the issues, would it be possible to release a legacy version of the old desktop app that is not getting any more updates?

Could not agree more! Please listen to us, your paying customers.

Yes it is possible to release a legacy verison, but no, they won't do it. But there are portable versions of spotify which you can download for free and they won't ever update.

I wholeheartedly agree.  Spotify's almost total silence shows utter contempt for their paying customers.

I'm still rocking on version: 1.1.55.498.gf9a83c60 with auto update disabled! This is my final stand!

It is really sad Spotify has been relatively silent since they said they "fixed" some of the issues.  Sure they brought back the discography view, but it's buried and doesn't include singles. The search bar remains a 2 step process. And there has been a large number of complaints about the spread out interface. Especially with the Artist name under the title the number of songs listed on even the largest monitors is significantly reduced. There's little hope they'll ever address these issues and will continue to talk about all these as "improvements." I also really miss the browse section to find different genre playlists.

I'm actively working my way through competitor services free trials and will likely take my subscription elsewhere. Even if I don't find one that satisfies me they way the previous Spotify UI did. At least I won't be supporting a company that pulled the rug out from under me.

Besides this being a tone-deaf update, I hope they allow resizing the lefthand playlist view. I quickly found the 'Use Compact Library View' option, but they still limit us to only resize it down to a certain width. If you go to far, it just reduces itself to small thumbnails of the playlists cover art 😂😂 as if that would ever be helpful to any user in any way 😂😂 Please, Spotify, just remove the restriction so we can adjust the side pane as much as we want. Why place these arbitrary limits on something so trivial?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, oh gracious Spotify overlords: the UI of the mobile app and the UI of the desktop app should not be the same. You use one with a mouse / trackpad and keyboard. The other is a touch interface. Why in the world would you use a touch-favored UI for a desktop app? Again, this just feels like a completely tone-deaf and short-sighted design choice that makes no sense at all.

And yes, please separate out the title and artist columns. Although, at this point asking for that is like asking y'all to give us back the option to report songs with explicit content not labeled as Explicit, because I'm almost certain it's never going to happen.
