Sharing song link directs to playlist

Whenever my sends me a song from his playlist. The link takes me to his playlist and plays the song from there (his playlist). I found this cool and liked it alot. However whenever I share a song it takes him to the album its from and or single and plays from there. I looked there the settings and had no clue how i could change this. Looking at the links it seems that a link to his playlist is embed within the song link. have no clue how it works and wanted to know if this was even a feature or j sum weird
