Spotify starts playing when connecting to Bluetooth devises, without running

Spotify just stars playing whenever I connect to a Bluetooth, but the app isn't running. How is this possible and how do i do this intrusive actions from Spotify. None of the apps I use for audio books or podcasts does this, is only Spotify. I'm already fed up with Spotify and I'm ready to change to another less intrusive app

I have exactly this same problem. Force stopping the app will only work until the next time my phone connects to the speaker.  How it can be running in the background with app closed I have no idea but it is very suspicious. I complained about this in the app store reviews and got no response. I cannot beleive the developers have not addressed this problem.
