Car Thing Stops Working

My Question or Issue

Any time I try to open my maps or even turn my phone off Spotify car thing stops playing my music and it appears it closes Spotify all together as when I press play on car thing it looks like the app is just starting up. I thought that it would be able to play music while my phone is not turned on like how Spotify usually does with say Bluetooth headphones.
