#MusicMonday is the hashtag I've been using for quite a while to share music recommendations from up-and-coming artists. Always fresh, and always different, trying to look for trends before they become one. You can check March's review for more music.

In this issue, we tackle on the subject of human conflict, including those times when you battle with your own self. Give them a listen, with a word from the artists themselves. 🎧

We begin this musical journey in Zwolle, Netherlands, with a Cinematic Indie Rock track about being trapped in a toxic world of sadness, where grief is love with no place to go. Band member Marco explains:

"I have a religious background and I wanted to write about the devil… but what/who is the devil? 

Everyone faces their own ‘devil’. In this song it’s a woman who suffers depression.

Something I was a witness of in my circle of friends.😉"

Let's fly now to Baltimore, MD. for an Indie Rock track with traces of Americana about a relationship where every conversation becomes the same, without truly listening to what's being said:

"Lyrically, it's essentially about my ex-wife. I'm dealing with the difficulty of communication.

Musically, [band member] Leena wrote the opening guitar line and then we collaborated in the structure and songwriting as a band for the rest."

Talking about broken communication, let's now go to Rhondda Valley, South Wales, in the UK for a shoegazy Indie Rock track about how hard is to teach someone who thinks that knows everything, even when they actually don't:

"I think everyone knows someone who can’t be advised because they think they already have the answers. It could be someone in the family or at work. In my case it was based on several people I’ve come into contact with in my life who talk over the room and cannot take advice."

Let's travel now to Detroit, MI for an Alt-Rap collaboration about fighting alone against the world, just like a japanese anime can do:

"I met Grant on Discord, and we started building a boom bap album. Theme wise the approach was to alternate who starts each song and this specific one came about after watching an episode of samurai champloo."

Our trip ends in Denver, CO. for a Hard Rock song about taking steps away form all that we've ever known, looking for something you may not even know yet:

"It was shaped by a universal experience I think a lot of people grapple with. Anything you want is a song of struggle between security and risk. The feeling of knowing what is right for you in the long run but fighting the uncertainty of it.

We often search for comfort and find it in places that don’t provide passion or fulfillment in any other areas of our life and the need for these things haunts us.

Anything you want is about running from your dreams and your happiness only to find out that happiness and passion will always be where your heart leads you in the end."
