Shuffle Playback Update: Tapping a song now preserves your shuffle sequence

Loneliest_Cabin

Hey Shuffle lovers! We’ve made some changes to how shuffle works on Spotify – and it’s designed to make your listening experience smoother and more predictable.

🌀 What’s changed?

Now, when you're shuffling a playlist and tap on a specific song, that song will start playing without reshuffling your entire queue. We want to make sure the Shuffle and Queue experience is more predictable, so you’ll stay right on track with the sequence you were already enjoying. That means no more hearing the same songs twice unexpectedly – and if you want to go back to the previous track, your place in the queue remains.

🔁 Heads up Seasoned Shufflers

We know that for some of you, tapping a song was your go-to way to reshuffle – and this change may take a bit of adjusting. Our goal with this update is to make shuffle feel more consistent and intuitive for everyone.

Here’s the best way to reshuffle going forward: just toggle the shuffle button off, then back on again to get a fresh sequence. You’ll find the Shuffle toggle in your playlist view, Now Playing View, or the Queue.

We continue to look into ways to improve the overall Shuffle experience even further. Stay tuned for more updates!
