In March 2023, the ♡ Heart button will start being replaced with a (+) Plus button for saving things to Your Library. Things that have been saved to Your Library will now show a green ✔ Check icon instead of a green Heart icon.
This new experience is now rolling out to the mobile and desktop apps first and will then come to the other apps (watch, TV, etc.) at a later time.
You can check out this Spotify news article for more information:
Save Your Favorite Songs, Podcasts, and More With Spotify’s Plus Button
In this post, we will show you how to use the new experience and answer your questions. You might have already seen this change being discussed in the Community recently.

This section will answer your frequently asked questions and will be updated with the latest answers.
Why are the 💚 green heart icons next to songs I've already liked missing? I used to be able to see the songs I've previously liked when viewing songs on Album and Playlist pages.
I want to add a song to a playlist from the Now Playing View, but I don't want to save it to my Liked Songs. Why do I have to save the song to Liked Songs first?
How do I remove a song from Liked Songs or my other playlists now?
How do I remove a podcast episode from Your Episodes or my other playlists now?
What happened to the "Like all songs" menu option on Album pages in the mobile app?
What happened to the "Swipe left to Like" gesture to quickly like and unlike songs in the mobile app?
Why can I no longer add a song to a playlist more than once using the "Add to playlist" menu in the mobile app? There used to be a popup telling me if a song was already added to a playlist and there was an option to ignore that and add it again.
Feedback:
Where can I give my feedback about the new (+) Plus button?
So you make a big fuss about a button update while at the same time approving the TikTok-ish new home screen? Who prioritises this **bleep**?
I start to dig the possible addition of tracks to multiple playlists at once, and to see which playlists contain a track. But I dearly miss a visible indicator for tracks to show it is a liked song. Hurry to reintegrate that. I think it was a huge mistake to even remove it in the first place. In the end I don’t care if the indicator is a heart or a plus or a unicorns head - I just want to know which songs I already put into the liked songs playlist.
And I understand where a lot of the frustration in the threads concerning this changes comes from - so many people complain about the missing indicator. Even in accepted solutions by Spotify staff it was acknowledged that the "heart would be dearly missed" - to explain why it is not already reintegrated may help mitigate frustration.
It actually makes me feel miserable while using the app, this missing indicator. And the lack of explanation why it is not back yet makes it worse
Things wrong with the + over the heart.
Can’t add the same song to a playlist it’s already in.
The Plus sign will be green if it’s added to any playlist- not just the liked. Which makes things extremely confusing.
I personally enjoyed seeing which songs I have liked even if I wasn’t looking at the liked songs playlist.
Overall having this button as a separate button to see what songs are in which playlists, I think would be a good touch, but please bring back the heart.
I just got this change and it’s not helpful that I can’t see which songs are in Liked Songs on a playlist or album.
I understand some just can not get it why we are frustrated.
Some of us pay monthly and they still can not bring Bell icon on the desktop. Each morning I open my phone to look.
What's New from artists we followed. This is just lousy to see they can design again function already works. Even on Desktop!
Instead of working on what people are waiting for ages to happen. Just doesn't make sense.
@mattsuda can you clarify this paragraph for me/us please?
“The ability to see which songs you've previously liked will return to track listings soon.”
does this mean that when im looking at, say, a playlist with liked songs/unknown songs (ex: a daily mix) there will actually be a green icon (or whatever icon spotify choose i dont care) to visually indicate that some of those songs are liked? Does that mean i will click on my favorite album by my favorite band and i will see a bunch of green icon next to the somg names in a list view?
As of right now, the only way to know if you liked a song is to play it out loud in now playing (to see if there is a green check mark) or attempt to add it to a playlist only to find its already there and you just wasted your time. I was just about to cancel my spotify subscription because its useless without visual cues but then you made this announcement so…. im really hoping youll clarify this paragraph for me. Thank you.
When will the visual indicator come back to list view? I hVe deleted and reinstalled and logged out of my app like 100 times just hoping to get a green icon back for liked aongs. A few days? Has anybody seen their spotify update yet to reflect these changes? Does ANYBODY have a green icon next to liked songs in list view?
I don't know for certain, but I do believe that the paragraph in question is saying that the like indicator next to a song title will be returning.
So far, I am unaware of a timeframe for this change.

the + is official until further notice and they will get back to everyone about the situation for right now the spotify team is keeping it as the + sign for now until they give Announcement that it is going back to the heart.

Can we just get the like button back with the addition of this plus button? That way we have the ability to see which songs are liked and which are just added to the playlist. Feel like that would solve these issues.
Thanks for letting us know that your app is now loading slowly after this change.
Please let me know the following details and I will pass this on to be looked into:

that would be a terrible update, no one wants that man. keep the old heart
I totaly agree with my fellow Spotify-Enthousiasts that commented on this topic.
The heart was a beautiful feauture to quickly store a song to a designated folder. Don't forget most people enjoy music while on the go. Be it in the car, on a bike (hey I'm Dutch 😉 ) or otherwise in traffic. You don't want all attention going to a choosing routine with multiple steps.
Besides that, the heart was a beautiful sign when scrolling through your lists or suggestions. You could instantly see where you're 'heart' lies.
I surely hope Spotify comes to her senses and brings back the one feature that makes the love for music show.
yes!! i’ve only recently discovered spotify community trying to get this feature back after the test run! i loved it so much and didn’t realize how much i needed it until i had it. it made moving songs between playlists so easy and gave me the motivation to finally remove the songs i liked 5 years ago at the bottom of my liked songs that i usually just skipped over bc it was too much to try and find the original playlist it was from as well.
This change is terrible and honestly the family is thinking about just switching to Amazon Music or Apple Music. Ya’ll need to stop implementing useless changes and over complicating a simple feature.
Please bring back the heart button. It’s SO useful to easily find the songs I like the MOST when searching through my playlists.
this plus button is extremely not useful, but at the very least please give us the option to keep the heart instead. I am usually a top supporter and listener on spotify but this has really made me reconsider….
