In March 2023, the ♡ Heart button will start being replaced with a (+) Plus button for saving things to Your Library. Things that have been saved to Your Library will now show a green ✔ Check icon instead of a green Heart icon.
This new experience is now rolling out to the mobile and desktop apps first and will then come to the other apps (watch, TV, etc.) at a later time.
You can check out this Spotify news article for more information:
Save Your Favorite Songs, Podcasts, and More With Spotify’s Plus Button
In this post, we will show you how to use the new experience and answer your questions. You might have already seen this change being discussed in the Community recently.

Why are the 💚 green heart icons next to songs I've already liked missing? I used to be able to see the songs I've previously liked when viewing songs on Album and Playlist pages.
I want to add a song to a playlist from the Now Playing View, but I don't want to save it to my Liked Songs. Why do I have to save the song to Liked Songs first?
How do I remove a song from Liked Songs or my other playlists now?
How do I remove a podcast episode from Your Episodes or my other playlists now?
What happened to the "Like all songs" menu option on Album pages in the mobile app?
What happened to the "Swipe left to Like" gesture to quickly like and unlike songs in the mobile app?
Why can I no longer add a song to a playlist more than once using the "Add to playlist" menu in the mobile app? There used to be a popup telling me if a song was already added to a playlist and there was an option to ignore that and add it again.
Feedback:
Where can I give my feedback about the new (+) Plus button?
Give the heart symbol back. This changes are so unnecessary and now it’s so hard to see songs that I have liked (what was too easy before).
This update is SO stupid!!! I loved the heart button, but I won’t be mad if it changes to a plus. You know what I am mad about though? How un-functional this update is! When I go into a playlist I can’t find which song I hearted. That’s one of the best things about Spotify and you got rid of it. And the new organizational panel for the playlists and songs is just too much. JUST CHANGE IT BACK TO NORMAL! All of you’re recent updates have been Horrible. I pay money for this app and if nothing changes I will be switching to Apple Music.
Nobody wanted this update! NOBODY. Maybe start focusing on your sound quality and stop messing with good things 😡
Just a reminder that we want our heart button back 🙂
NO ONE WANTS THESE CHANGES.
You have customer who have been religiously using this app, paying for this app. Me included.
we have spoken, we have screamed. We have left.
I assume you want to keep customers… right? That the point of being heard…? Of paying for the service…?
We pay because it something we WANT, so we pay to receive. And now you’re not only going above-around customers.
You filter their words and responses…
I am autistic, I pay for premium, and I was specifically using your app all these years for a few reasons.
The heart was the biggest reason. Bring back the heart, hear your customers. Or you’ll end up paying the next year on my new subscription to a new app. Because you have now backed me into a corner, and I will not allow that.
I WILL be heard.
The only reason I mentioned my autism is because of things people are saying.
which is highly valid for someone like me.
It was changed to a heart years ago, yes. So what is the point of going backwards and losing half your customers?
how about we don’t worry about the cosmetics… there are plenty of things to be USING OUR MONEY FOR.
We pay for what we want. And this is not that.
Also why the heck am I a ‘casual listener’ when i listen to things for 10 hours a day, every SINGLE day. For multiple years…
You were my religion.. (a half joke)
and now my words will continually be filtered… so I will post until they are heard.
Another post asking for a liked song indicator 💚
Still waiting for identification of liked songs within playlists and album view. I don’t care if it’s a heart, star or even the poo emoji.

For those people here that want the heart (or something similar) back, head over to the the ideas page and vote to get it back. Vote for the idea .
If it doesn't appear straight away search for something like this:
"Bring back like indicator on album/playlist"
Good listening!
WAKE UP!
WHY MY MONEY STILL HERE?
We’ve been commenting since februrary to not remove the heart button (and now to put it back).
The topic’s author said that the button will be back but nothing happened yet.
I don’t think that is so hard to just add a button beside the songs (mainly because it already existed).
Why do we even have this Spotify community if no change is going to come from it? Everybody hates the new change. Not one single person likes it. The change you made is stupid from an objective point of view because you took away the ability to see liked songs on playlists, albums, radio stations, etc... Just change it back already. What is the hold up?
MATT COME ON NNMN
THERE IS STILL NO HEAR NEXT OUT SONGS. THIS MAKES US SO SAD. ME AND MY FRIENDS COMPLAIN ON THIS. I TELL THEM TO REPORT BUT IT DOESNT SEEM IT WILL EVEN HELP. THE HEART NEVER LEFT THE LAPTOP/ DESKTOP VERSION. PLEASE BRING BACK. PLEASEEEEEEEEE
Let’s spread this link guys
I’m now also one of the users that seem to be part of this half baked utterly frustrating roll out. WHERE IS THE VISUAL INDICATION THAT I have LIKED a SONG in PLAYLISTS!!!
Really! So many users have been complaining for months and still no good alternative.
Now I have to click each song in a playlist to know if I actually added/liked that song before!! How utterly dumb is that from a user xp perspective.
Do u really think people spend more time in Spotify because these kind of unnecessary actions???
The feature was there, independent of the icon used. What is the logic in removing that visual indication???
Very frustrated Spotify user.
The removal of the “like” heart was a terrible “enhancement” and really marred the way I use Spotify. I use the app to discover new music and will filter songs I’ve previously liked out of my Daily Mixes so I can hear new recommendations. Now I need to drill down into every song in the playlist to filter out previous likes - I don’t have the time or patience for that. If this doesn’t get corrected in the near future, I will probably switch to another streaming service (something I’m loath to do because of my history of played songs on Spotify).
Share ! Spotify we are sick of this…
I just wanted to go out of my way here to say I _hate_ that the “like” 💚 heart placement has been replaced with the ➕plus and ✔️ icon. The on/off 💚 switch for the heart was the best thing since YouTube. And I hate that I can’t easily remove songs I’m no longer into on my Liked library with one click and now I have to go through the … ellipses menu I don’t add songs to other playlists as often as would constitute replacing the best button (💚) in internet history.
Change it back. Change it back at once, I implore you.
Why are the 💚 green heart icons next to songs I've already liked missing? I used to be able to see the songs I've previously liked when viewing songs on Playlist and Album pages.
- The ability to see which songs you've previously liked will return to track listings soon. (Playlist and Album pages) We don't know yet if this icon will still be a green heart. The team is currently working on making this experience better.
Can this functionality be reimplemented? Thanks.
