I cant find many 24bit/44,1khz tracks on spotify. Almost all tracks are 16bit/44.1
Is this correct? Perhapse wrong settings??
I live in the netherlands.
Back on 74 by Jungle is 24 bits
A Sunset by Rhys Lindsay is also 24 bits.
At least two tracks from my 525 track library.
Fever Dream by sunnbrella for example also
“It's Happening” by Night Cap Is only 16bit on my Spotify. Strangely “Sentimental Journey” by Nils Landgren was 16bit yesterday after I read this thread, but today it’s 24bit. Maybe it’s a slow roll out update, or the app is reading this incorrectly (I’m clicking on the Lossless option in the app to open the info). Otherwise I’ve found absolutely no 24bit songs - it’s a bit of an issue as I’ve been trying to do a comparison test with Apple Music, and naturally enough most of the songs I’m selecting in AM are either Dolby or 24bit - my tests on 16bit vs 16bit is another story. I even got the AI to make a playlist of only 24bit songs - actually came up with a decent playlist, but nothing in there was 24bit, even had a few classic tracks not even shown as lossless.
So my guess is either the app isn’t reading the fine quality lossless rate correctly, or Spotify can only produce 16bit, and less at this time.

I can only find 2 songs on there in 24bit - Sam Ock & Ballet, all others are 16 bit. I’m in Australia, I wonder if the roll out quality differs around the world?

Double checked today, all songs in the playlist are 24bit here in Sweden.
Strange 🤔
I found another yet 24-bit song: "I Found a Way — The Beautiful Project"

A lot of RAYE’s music is in 24-bit
The album "The Kooks - 10 Tracks to Echo in the Dark" is entirely 24/44 here in Germany.
Took a while to find these but there is first 1000 24-bit tracks found by hand. In no particular order. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7oXXmg21gV7gPmzLEyWbEC?si=0e9c2b6275bb48d9
I tried to play one the few songs that are 24/44.1 (thanks for sharing the name of a song, I couldn't find one on my library!). When playing this song ("it's happening" by NIGHT CAP) on my iphone, it works fine (it shows lossless 24/44.1) BUT when using Spotify Connect to stream this song to my hifi system (Eversolo DMP A6) it is plays in 16/44.1 only.
Any known limitations with Spotify CONNECT ?
Guys, do you have the same issue with other streamers ?
Most likely the Eversolo isn’t compatible with the Spotify Connect app yet. Spotify did say only a few streamers would be ready at launch (Sony, Bose, Samsung, Sennheiser). My set up is a Sonos system, apparently this is being updated sometime this month, for now it’s still 320kbps. Instead I’ve been streaming via a Cambridge Audio Amp, getting both 16 and 24bit, strangely only some of the songs listed on this thread are 24bit in my Spotify Connect. Not sure what’s going on, since some tunes are showing up as 24bit I assume my settings are correct.
Also, it’s a bit odd that the most obvious popular tracks/albums aren’t 24bit here when they are on Apple and Tidal. Does support read these posts?
Same issue on yamaha r-n600a receiver. It plays 16/44.1 only.
Hi there @Strikey8_, @AntGil, @d4rou87,
Thanks for reaching out.
I tested this on my end with a Connect-enabled speaker and played several of the songs from @JaniEronen's playlist (which is wonderful by the way, great choices in there!) and all of them play in 24/44.1. Testing a bit further, the only time it doesn't is when the song itself doesn't have lossless at all, in which case it plays in 320kbps instead. Which songs did you test with? Let me know so I can see if I get the same.
From this, it's safe to assume that this depends on the device. As you mentioned yourselves, not all output devices are fully compatible with lossless, so that's what determines what quality you'll get. Rest assured, if the song is available in 24/44.1 and your device supports it, it should play at that quality.
Hope this clears things up.
