My Question or Issue
Today in my release radar playlist, a new track from an artist 'XTC' was listed. In case you're not familiar, here's the start of their artist bio on Spotify: "XTC was one of the smartest -- and catchiest -- British pop bands to emerge from the punk and new wave explosion of the late '70s." They haven't released any new music in two decades, so I was surprised to find this track had been identified as one of theirs: https://open.spotify.com/track/0uc6JsZzYYsuYwJag9FHor?si=da68b50c9a6b450f. It seems that there is a new artist with the same name, but unfortunately it's getting confused with XTC from the UK. How can we go about resolving this so these tracks don't appear on one another's profiles?
Hey @armzagadams, thanks for reaching out to the Community!
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. You can report content that isn’t working as expected on Spotify by following these steps. Spotify will take a look and investigate after your submission.
Let me know if you need anything else. Have a nice day!
Hey. @Billy-J this issue is huge now. And reporting it is prohibitive. Even the steps you linked to are not really clear. Can you add a simple button or menu option to flag incorrect artist quickly and easily. This will allow the community to fix all incorrect artists quickly and effectively
Hey @rawcane,
Thanks for posting to the Community! At the moment, the way to report incorrect content is through the steps I provided in my last reply. I will make sure to pass your feedback regarding the ability to quickly flag incorrect artist information, however, the main way to report this at the moment is through those steps. You can also create a new Idea about this here.
Hope this helps. Have a great day!
I saw the same thing. Also been happening with the Bob Mould bang Sugar (which hasn't released music since the mid 90s) and Til Tuesday. Really irritating that there isn't an easy way to flag fake/malicious content.
This doesn't have any specific instructions for a user who wants to report inaccurate/mislabeled music... that articles states: "If a song, podcast, or audiobook on Spotify isn’t playing correctly, you can report it to us." That's not what I've described here.
The only thing that seems remotely relevant is to contact Customer Support. I'll try that.
I have found some instances were old, somewhat dormant band names are recycled or misattributed to new music, which is possibly AI material.
Whoever this is:

is definitely **NOT** this artist:

Can you fix this, Spotify?
