Report Albums on Wrong Artist Page

Report Albums on Wrong Artist Page

Right now we don't have a great way to collect information about errors in our data from our users in an actionable format. This was one key learning from Line-In, and something that we would look to improve with future features.

If you're an artist and your music  ends up on a different artist profile, or if another artist’s music appears on your profile, we can get that fixed for you quickly. You have two options for addressing these errors—either reach out to your distributor or label and follow their instructions, or contact the Spotify for Artists support team and let us know that there’s music on the wrong artist profile. We’ll follow up quickly to get the details we need to correct the error.

You can report mismatched content if you see it live on Spotify, but we recently made it easier for you to catch these errors before they’re visible to listeners: you can see upcoming releases within your Catalog in Spotify for Artists. If you notice an incorrect release there—or you don’t see a release that you were expecting—you can follow the same steps as above.

We’re working with distributors and labels to implement solutions that improve the accuracy of our catalog. There are millions of artists on Spotify delivering over 20,000 tracks per day, so it’s likely that there are artists out there with the same or similar names. We recommend using a distributor that enables you to deliver music with a specified artist ID so it's added to the right artist page and there is no guesswork. We've highlighted preferred distributors who are using best practices to reduce metadata problems.

On the Hills page (https://open.spotify.com/artist/1mMpupXipaRTjT2MNIi09E) there are albums and singles that belong elsewhere, or at least are not by Hills. Hills are a psyche rock act of sorts. The incorrect music is from an EDM act.

The following are all by a different act and shold be moved or correctly attributed:

Hello,

On the Abyssal page, https://open.spotify.com/artist/1Ey4DaBUTa8vzDU25Go0w2 there is 1 album and 2 singles. But the singels do not belong here and are from something completely different.

Abyssal is a black/doom metal band and the others are definitely not.

Abyssal has 3 full length albums: http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Abyssal/3540341441,

The official page is http://abyssal-home.bandcamp.com/

please rectify this in the next metadata update

2 Alan Parsons Project albums are listed under Alan Parsons himself. I won't bother with links it's kind of obvious.

@eyupkardagezen

Hello:

Looks like by looking at the Alan Parsons Project, and the solo work of Alan Parsons from both artist pages, these two releases below that are currently placed on the Alan Parsons solo artist page:

spotify:album:44VunLimdsXo2C6figBmwj and spotify:album:4BGd9BmpePqeSfHLeYiCDr should both be on the Alan Parsons Project artist page here: https://open.spotify.com/artist/2m62cc253Xvd9qYQ8d2X3d

Source information: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Parsons

This abomination shows up on Faray's artist page.

On the Big Star "related artists" page, there is a link to the wrong Chris Bell.

Big Star: https://open.spotify.com/artist/3UvcmAOZt64oKpP95f6MMM

The Correct Chris Bell: https://open.spotify.com/artist/5UDDnXpPNuL91XxNJLX47f

Thanks!

@jaygerland

Hello:

What your post is about is refered to from above by  about other metadata issues, and community members need to use other reporting methods. This thread is only for albums and/or releases on the wrong artist pages.

Please see this information below for instructions on how to report other metadata issues like this.

"If you see any other metadata issues please see this FAQ article for the next steps."

So that linked FAQ article says that, as the artist, you need to have your label submit updated metadata to Spotify. I feel like this issue is probably more on Spotify to fix, it looks like just the wrong related artist is pulled in by the app. Since we seem to be between different issues, I'm not sure where to go with this but that is definitely the wrong Chris Hill on that page.

Found an album that is definitely linked to a wrong artist. Apparently, there are at least two bands/artists with the same name: Dallas.

This particular album Raj Kapoor / Sleeper's Entertainer contains tracks from the 1990s by the Estonian band Dallas.

http://www.seksound.com/releases/product/view/1/37

It looks like they are not listed on Spotify at all.

Album link: https://open.spotify.com/album/3K5TDHnbMllSxqduVotbOT

Wrong artist link: https://open.spotify.com/artist/4G7Ft324bPwyWC2v35sns8

Specimen, is out of wack.  What are these extra incorrect albums?

https://open.spotify.com/artist/16ulVVpMo81yQAQTvUqDjm

Albums

Compilations

  • Warm Wet Cling - Film Red Velvet Crush (1997)
  • Azoic (1997)

E P

  • Batastrophe (1983)

Live

  • Specimen Alive at the Batcave (2009), Metropolis Records/Eyeswideshut Recordings

Singles

  • "Returning (From A Journey)" / "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" (1983), London Records
  • "Beauty Of Poison" / "Tell Tail" (1983), London Records
  • "Sharp Teeth" / "Hex" / "Holes" (1985), Trust Records
  • "Indestructible / "Brainburst" (1986), Rampant Records

Many Thankies! ❤️ ❤️

@jaygerland

Opps for other metadata issues like artist pages with wrong information:

If you've seen either

- a track, album, or artist in our catalogue with incorrect information (i.e. wrong release year, misspelling, etc.)

- different artists in the same Artist Page

- incorrect cover arts

- incorrect artists biography

or

- a track or album that isn't playing correctly (i.e. a song only playing one second of music)

Then you can report the error using the Contact Form. Once there, perform the following steps:

Step 1: Click on "I want to report a broken song or wrong song information".
Step 2: Click on the Green Button that reads "I STILL NEED HELP".
Step 3: Copy and Paste the track URI links to the songs into the field that reads "Song URI".
Step 4: Type up a description of the track issues in the "Tell us more" field.
Step 5: Click on the green button "SEND QUESTION".
Be sure to include all Spotify URI's in the body of the message!

After contacting Customer Support, you should receive an automated response from Spotify. The tracks will then be aggregated and reported to the content provider. Customer Support will update their database with the correct information as soon as the label or aggregator has sent them an update with the correct data.

You can just point to the artist page from the artist page link, and give a brief discription of the wrong information on the RELATED ARTIST section so it can be corrected.

1. https://open.spotify.com/album/0uee2TWoJgZnphpoTvyg2r

2. https://open.spotify.com/artist/26YwXMnl5wfwgt4km8cFud

3. The album in link #1 is listed as part of a metal bands portfolio since they have the same name as an artist from the 60's

Drake' s One Dance list guest artist Wizkid as Wiz Kid resulting in the wrong artist page to be linked.

Thanks, it's been submitted. I appreciate the guidance.

Hi,

  1. Ñu - Spanish Metal band: https://open.spotify.com/artist/15ZPKVTqD5FD3P7n3m04KX
  2.  This album is linked to Ñu, but it doesn't belong to this band. I think it's from an artist called Nu and you got wrong their name: https://open.spotify.com/album/5zvEBg3jYbRdLhc48xaFMY.
  3. You can check out here Ñu's discography.

The album "The Long Arm" (http://play.spotify.com/album/2NizXcfyJSKltZZ1ZBfXvv) is listed on the page of the artist Long Arm altough it is from the Band The Long Arm, apparently from Indiana, US instead of the russian artist Long Arm. The album is rock/pop and not related to the artist Long Arm. The album can be found here: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/thelongarm2. Long Arm's label and discography: http://projectmooncircle.com/artist/long-arm/

It would be nice if you could fix this.

Hi,

Bugünkü Neşen Cartel'den: https://open.spotify.com/album/7DWcPrV7XiPMvG7ZHeq4kG

The Throwback Album: https://open.spotify.com/album/4z17bFRKDh4ui8bkMxwQQw

Actually these albums are relased by two different bands named "Cartel", but by mistake joined together as if they are the works of the same band.
