Rock the Casbah (The Clash) has a ringtone ringing at the background!

Solved!

Rock the Casbah (The Clash) has a ringtone ringing at the background!

I know this must sound ridiculous but The Clash's song Rock The Casbah, has a ringtone from minute 1:56 till 2:13 ringing at the background. We are talking about a song with 32 million plays! Please fix it because it's really annoying!

Hello:

You might check these pages out here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk%3ARock_the_Casbah and http://lineout.thestranger.com/2008/05/does_anyone_else_hear_the_cell_phone_rin You might be listening to the original album release even if it is a remaster re-release of the Combat Rock album, where the original Rock the Casbah track comes from.

I believe the original track even shows up on one double CD compilation release as well without the sound either mixed down and very faint or edited out completely in the original song. The sound is from an old pac-man watch I believe. Most music listeners probable have heard the edited version with out the sound in the original song.

There is another famous band that had this happen, but it was a ringing telephone while recording was going on, and the phone was in the recording booth, and ringing telephone is captured on a classic rock song on the completed original release. Care to guess which band it is and the famous song that it was?

i'm amazed... in all these years listening to this song i have never noticed that sound till I listen it on spotify with headphones. It's remarkable. It must be as you say, maybe in later version the sound was allways edited down.

thank you for your response!

It sounds to me like the old pagers people used to carry around with them back in the early 80s.  It could also be an alarm from the pac-man game watch going off, but I truly believe it is an old school pager.  Check out this link to see the historical time line of pagers if your interested: http://www.spok.com/blog/throwback-thursday-history-pagers

Is that really a phone ringing? I think that it's just because it's the "remastered" version. I noticed it too, but I thought it was supposed to be there.

Hello all, I know this is an old thread, but we were just talking about this yesterday. I believe the sound you hear in "Rock the Casbah" comes from an old 80's digital watch that plays "Dixie". Melody Alarm Armitron Chrono 40-6207. I used to own one in the 80's and I used to try to make my watch go off to match the song. It seems that the sound was cut off in the song so it doesn’t play all of the "Dixie" melody. Just throwing my two cents in.

It's sampled from a Nelsonic Pacman watch.
