My Question or Issue

I tried to play a song I have saved and downloaded, lower one's Eyes by ぬゆり, and the audio of will stetsons cover played instead. This repeated when playing the song from the artist, when playing from search, and after restarting the app. I suppose this is likely from the merging of duplicates by the same artist, but these songs are by different artists. I love the original and the cover, but if I try to play the original I want to hear the original. This is a Japanese vocaloid song, and the cover is English and not vocaloid. I am not paying money for my songs to be randomly overwritten. Fix it.

Hi there @VStarT,

Thanks for letting us know about this.

I tested this myself and can confirm that I hear the same. To verify, these are the version you're referring to, correct?

Will Stetson cover:

Original (which plays the same as the above):

spotify:track:7jRlAeBs3eip5TFR5NbeTW:small

Yes!

Update: it has been a full week and it has gotten worse! The song now fully redirects to will stetson's English covers rather than just having the audio overwritten- you can even see this in the embeds from the moderator's response. The album cover, artist, and lyrics have changed to will stetsons rather than it showing ぬゆり's data and playing will stetsons audio.

Thanks for the update, @VStarT!

We'll take another look into this 👍. The Community is just a post away if there's anything else you need assistance with in the meantime.

This is still happening, it is safe to assume nothing is being done about it.

Me and my friends have tested from different devices to make sure it wasn't just me. Behaves exactly like this post is describing, as cache is updated over time you see less and less of the original.

UPDATE: so the song version we were playing before, "lower one's eyes", is now in purgatory. It is no longer accessible from ぬゆり's Spotify artist BUT the original audio IS accessible as "Lower" from ぬゆり's alias Nulut which is a separate Spotify artist. The song version that is still on my playlist from before, "lower one's eyes", is still behaving as described above, but it is also the only version with that gorgeous cover art and synced Japanese lyrics. Because "Lower" is a separate song from "lower one's eyes" it does not have the lyrics that "lower one's eyes" had. "lower one's eyes" still has Japanese lyrics time synced but they are playing over the audio and album cover of Will Stetson's English cover "Lower one's Eyes". Gosh the jargon is getting difficult here.

Regardless, the original song audio is now technically accessible, rejoice! But I'm still very concerned about where the revenue from streams went after this debacle and if we will ever get that song back with that cover art. And of course worried that this stuff is going on behind the scenes in less noticeable instances. And wondering why it was "resolved" in this manner that erased all prior streams of the "lower one's eyes" version by removing it from ぬゆりentirely.

I am very disappointed that 1) it took this long to fix and that 2) it is sort of still broken. But at least I can listen to it now.
