It doesn't matter what device I log in with, or if I'm using the web player or the app, every time, right at the top of my home is the Joe Rogan Experience. I've never listened to it. I don't want to listen to it. I'm never going to listen to it for a huge range of reasons. There's nothing similar in my listening habits that would indicate that the JRE podcast is something that would appeal to my listening interests, and yet there it sits.
How can I remove this? It's actually really irritating, not only because of the content, but also because of the fact that I pay for a premium account for the privilege of not being bombarded with advertisements while I'm listening to the content that I do enjoy. Since I have no interest in JRE, and nothing in my listening habits should indicate to Spotify's algos that I would have any interest in JRE, it feels like an advertisement - pushing unwanted content onto a paying subscriber. Is this simply something that I have to "put up and shut up" about, because of the massive signing deal between Rogan and Spotify?
UPDATE:
So editing my prefs file to force the desktop app into classic mode has gotten rid of the ever-present "Best of The Joe Rogan Experience". Also seems to have eliminated Joe's presence from my iOS device, strangely enough. Haven't tried the web player yet. The process is nicely documented and stickied on reddit's /r/spotify.
That being said, I shouldn't have had to do this, and the greater issue/question remains - why is this the default behavior of the "improved user experience"? I agree with elezium that it is an issue; I phrased it as a question initially as a way of phrasing it in a less accusatory and confrontational manner. The problem is that Spotify is forcing unwanted content onto paying users by having this default behavior. It's shitty. It feels like the great U2 spamblast that happened with iTunes years ago. I didn't want U2's shitty song in my iTunes library then, and I don't want to have Joe Rogan's cretinous, loud, imbecilic, drool-spew on my spotify homepage. /rant

@elezium - see the edit, there's a workaround posted on reddit/r/spotify that allows you to hide "The Best Of JRE" from your homepage by way of enabling the "classic" view on the desktop app.
Shouldn't have to be a work around, that **bleep** should be removed from the platform entirely
Why is Spotify trying to shove podcast on their users? I dont pay Spotify to listen to podcast.
I went to settings, explicit content and moved button to not allow - Joe Rogan went away.
Hi I have a similar issue too and this is the Root Cause
"On Home screen, it displays whatever Spotify wants to shove down my throat"
How do I get more intuitive suggestions that are for Me on the Home Screen and block suggestion types that make me want to cancel my subscription ?? on that cancel idea ... CD's in Op Shops are really cheap these days.
Lots of frustration on this topic... I can only assume Spotify overspent on JRE and therefore has to advertise it on everybody's home page in hopes of making up for that, so no "never show" or "block" option will happen no matter how much subscribers ask for it, vote on it etc. I wonder how their employees morally reconcile working for a misinformation outlet.
Anyway, how I got around it - "follow" JRE, then "unfollow" it, then just follow a few other random podcasts. I never listen to podcasts but now on my home screen, it shows me the ones I selected in a "your shows" row and I no longer see JRs lie-spewing face on my screen. I hope this helps.
there is no way I would follow that**bleep** artist and divisive awipe joe rogan, spotify might think I like him (I don't... not in any way) and spam even more of his worthless spiel.
By now Spotify should know that Rogan is not giving the company any value, and in fact is diminishing the quality of the product they offer to customers. We may think that having Joe Rogan as exclusive in your platform makes Spotify a willing participant in the spread of crazy, unmoral, antidemocratic, etc propaganda by Joe Rogan.
