Track Title Restrictions for Independent Artists vs. Bigger Artists

Track Title Restrictions for Independent Artists vs. Bigger Artists

Hi, we're new to this!

I have a question/concern.

We released a song titled, "YDHTW" through a distribution site but when the song actually came out, it was titled "Y.D.H.T.W".

I emailed asking why it wasn't released the way we paid for and they said it was due to Spotify's guildines.

Now, other artists like Dua Lipa, Flo Rider and Tyler, The Creator have songs that are titled an acronym WITHOUT periods but I was told that bigger artists don't adhere to the same restrictions independent artists go by.

I think this is completely unfair and we were honestly not happy with it.

Any thoughts?

Good day!

It sounds like something went wrong indeed. Try contacting your digital distributor to update the metadata to suit the original data. In most cases you can open a support ticket on their website. You can also try sending them an email. This problem should be solved by a quick metadata update.

Goodluck and enjoy your day!
