My Question or Issue
For a few weeks now, I have been noticing unexpected changes to my weekly Release Radar. I usually check the Release Radar on Friday, then listen to all the songs on there throughout the weekend, save songs I like to my personal playlists, etc.
What I mean by unexpected changes is this: After the intial update on Friday, my Release Radar will often get another update on Saturday or maybe even Friday night. After this second update, most of the songs from the intial update are usually still there but some are replaced by different songs while others simple change positions in the playlist.
To me, this is an inconvenience because I'm not always able to save songs I like to my library right away, and it has happened that wasn't able to find a song I liked because the Release Radar has changed in the meantime.
Here's an example of the kind of changes I'm talking about.
This was my Release Radar as of Friday, October 22, 2021 around noon:
1. Sickle and Peace, Mastodon
2. Enemy, Swallow the Sun
3. Magura‘s Last Kiss, Ignea
4. Speed Dating an Arsonist, Diablo Swing Orchestra
5. Road Trip, Ninja **bleep** Party
6. Like It‘s the First Time, Skinny Lister
7. Fisher Island Sound, Beirut
8. Field of Sorrow – Orchestral Version, Orden Ogan
9. Deceiver, Deceiver, Arch Enemy
10 Grim Awakening, Sarke
11. Warm Seas – Nothing But The Truth, The Pineapple Thief
12. Halloween, Faun
13. Immaculate Deception, The Agonist
14. Silly Boy Blue – Alternative Ending Mix, David Bowie
15. Alles verkacken, The toten Crackhuren im Kofferraum
16. Culture War, Twelve Foot Ninja
17. Bartzabel, Behemoth
18. House of Cadmus, Khemmis
19. Nuages, Wiegedood
20. Trance V: Cerulean Sun, Anomalie & Sakis Tolis
21. Passenger, Wilderun
22. Bela Lugosi‘s Dead, Frayle
23. Empire of Lies, Grand Cadaver
24. Blooms of Oblivion, Emma Ruth Rundle
25. Orphan, Whitechapel
26. In Colour, The Gathering
27. Dominion of Cain, Nothgard
28. Yörn Torni, Havukruunu
29. Refuturing, Maybeshewill & Marcus Joseph
30. KFM, Die Ärzte
And this was my Release Radar by Friday, October 22, 2021 around midnight:
1. Sickle and Peace, Mastodon
2. Enemy, Swallow the Sun
3. Magura‘s Last Kiss, Ignea
4. Speed Dating an Arsonist, Diablo Swing Orchestra
5. Road Trip, Ninja **bleep** Party
6. Like It‘s the First Time, Skinny Lister
7. Fisher Island Sound, Beirut
8. Field of Sorrow – Orchestral Version, Orden Ogan
9. Deceiver, Deceiver, Arch Enemy
10 Grim Awakening, Sarke
11. Warm Seas – Nothing But The Truth, The Pineapple Thief
12. Halloween, Faun
13. Immaculate Deception, The Agonist
14. Silly Boy Blue – Alternative Ending Mix, David Bowie
15. Alles verkacken, The toten Crackhuren im Kofferraum
16. Tangled, Twelve Foot Ninja
17. Passenger, Wilderun
18. Nuages, Wiegedood
19. House of Cadmus, Khemmis
20. Bartzabel, Behemoth
21. Trance V: Cerulean Sun, Anomalie & Sakis Tolis
22. Blooms of Oblivion, Emma Ruth Rundle
23. Orphan, Whitechapel
24. In Colour, The Gathering
25. Dominion of Cain, Nothgard
26. Bela Lugosi‘s Dead, Frayle
27. Empire of Lies, Grand Cadaver
28. The Necklace, Kayo Dot
29. Yörn Torni, Havukruunu
30. Coast of Barbary, Four Stroke Baron
As you can see, three songs have been completely replaced, seven songs have changed positions in the playlist.
I don't think these additional updates are supposed to happen. I would appreciate
a) some feedback on why this is happening, and
b) a bugfix that gets rid of these unexpected updates.
Thank you!

My Question or Issue
I like to listen through my weekly Release Radar from start to end so I miss as little new music as I can. I can pick back up wherever I left off since the songs used to stay in the same order until the Friday morning refresh with new music.
Starting sometime last week, I've noticed my Release Radar shuffling the playlist order, making it difficult for me to give everything a listen at least once. Hopefully there's an answer to this change, as it's a big bummer for me!
It sounds like Spotify has made a change to how Release Radar works, possibly switching from a fixed order to a shuffled one.
Unfortunately, there's no way to revert it to the old system directly—Spotify often updates features like this without much notice.
A workaround could be creating a playlist with the songs from your Release Radar and listening to it in the order you prefer.
Crazy this is a 3 year old issue. I guess basic functionality and consistency is less important than flashy new features. Another common Spotify L.
Three years later, and I'm having the same issues. A fresh RR yesterday (Friday), with - this time - lots of music that sounded very attractive. Listened to it a couple of times, and this morning (Saturday) was looking forward to playing it again, only to find many songs had been replaced by stuff I did not like at all. A huge disappointment. Coupled with Discover Weekly no longer giving many of us the option to hide songs, I'm beginning to wonder if Spotify is still the best music service for me. (And yes, I tried the options of logging out etc. suggested in this thread, but that didn't work. I'm really disappointed the good music is gone.)
I'm glad I checked this thread because the same thing has been happening to me for the past month or so and it's driving me absolutely C R A Z Y!!!!! I have anywhere from 8-12 hours of music on my RR and keep track of it by listening to it OFF shuffle and just remembering where I left off the next day (it usually takes me the WHOLE WEEK to listen to it). Seems like every few months this app just continues to spiral down the drain. 👎👎👎
Today is Friday 12/13/24. I listened to about 1-2 hours of my RR this morning. Now in the early evening I went to listen to it and i saw it shuffle in front of my eyes. Not even 5 hours later!!! It didn't even give me a few hours of unshuffled sanity. Smh
Yeah, mine has been like that since before my comment. It will change multiple times throughout the day when opened. It might be a few minutes later or a few hours later.
Issue still here after 3+ years huh... I started noticing it 6 months to a year ago. Highly annoying. Luckily I have my Last.fm linked, so I can actually check back what I've been listening to before the RR switched everything around. Yesterday I listened to the fresh list but was in the car, so couldn't fav some of the tunes. Went back to the list today and sure enough some track where swapped with others from the same release. I do recall blocking some obvious AI trash in the list, so that might trigger the reshuffling?
Anyway: anoying AF.
3rd Jan - 15 tracks added - proper update day
4th Jan - 2 tracks added
5th Jan - 1 track added
6th Jan - 1 track added
9th Jan - 1 track added
10th Jan - 13 tracks added - proper update day
11th Jan - 2 tracks added
13th Jan - 3 tracks added
The list is unusable because tracks are moved around, deleted and added almost daily.
If Release Radar stealth shuffling is a feature, I don't want it.
It is really important to me that the order of the playlist stays the same. Here are some reasons:
1. I listen in multiple sittings and want to pick up where I left off to make sure I make it through the list by the end of the week.
2. I listen while working and might not immediately follow up on a track I liked. When I take a break from working and go "I really liked one of those tracks near the beginning, who was that by?" I don't want it to have moved.
3. The consistency of the ritual is important. Minor stealth edits are hugely annoying on this front.
4. The minor tweaks feel weirdly deceptive and a bit invasive. Like Spotify is doing A/B testing on which covers are performing better, or artists are paying to bump themselves to the top, but it's supposed to be a private playlist.
Hi,
I'm listening to Release Radar and Discover Weekly for years, but it is only Release Radar that have this annoying sorting change.
Since a few months ago, everyday I want to play or continue this playlist, the order of the songs change and even some songs are removed or added while it's supposed to be a playlist that is updated Friday only.
I've joined two screenshots of the playlist with a day difference. But I have more screenshot of this problem.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app without success.
Still happening, still quite annoying.
