View previous versions of playlists

Hey, all!

Is there a way to view an earlier edition of a playlist? Here's some background. I listen a lot to the Sounds of Spotify playlists--they're an easy way to find good "mood" music and discover new artists. One of my favorite playlists was the Sound of Medieval, which was a lot of neofolk/world music/instrumental pieces. It was really great (except for the odd problematic band)! They recently revamped it, though. It's now almost entirely choral and similar styles, which is also pretty...just not what I really want. Since I have the free version of Spotify/am ignorant of how playlists can be revamped, I didn't save a lot of the music.

TL;DR Is there a way to view previous versions of a playlist?

Do you still not have this option? 😞

Don't know if I am allowed to make some advertisement here (didn't read that it was forbidden on the spotify rules, and its not a commercial tool), but if you are interested in storing the previous playlist version, I've created a minimalistic tool to allow people to store their playlists version through the time and access them later : https://e.diskloud.fr/stm . It's just a tool that I've made for fun and that works more or less well.

Hi,

I cannot access the link you posted because it says access denied (insufficient priviledges).
In my opinion it's a fairly trivial feature to add. Sure database space could be an issue so my suggestion would be that for every playlist, add toggle option to track history (default being off) that way users have to select which playlists they want to track. It minimizes the space used and you don't have wasted playlist being tracked either.

All you need to store is the minimal information of the tracks, ie: id, name, position/number in the playlist.
And if space is really a consideration add a prompt that shows up every couple months asking the user, "Do you want to continue tracking the history of this playlist?".  I'm sure some lists are not tailored to a specific user so that means one playlist can be saved for many. Those can be toggled on by default and only individually curated playlists need to be activated to store the history.

Anyway, just trying to help with suggestions. Have a great day!
