Why are some audiobooks locked and others not?

I pay for a premium subscription. I’ve been able to listen to books since the new update. But recently I tried to listen to ‘A gathering of shadows’ and it was locked. I was confused because the only thing it said was “You can't buy audiobooks in the app, but titles you've already purchased through Spotify can be listened to here.”

So why is this the case with this book but not the rest of the books from the same series.

How do I fix this? Premium account doesn’t allow me to listen to books.
I own the premium family account (I pay) but I cannot listen.

Makes no sense to gate keep the series with one part of a book when the 2nd and 3rd are free 

I am the primary on Spotify premium & can see the audiobook I want and it's locked. I haven't used my listening hours for the month.

My selected audiobook shows locked and prompts me to purchase even though it says it’s included with Premium and I am the premium family plan manager with almost all my allowed hours are remaining in the monthly plan.

I was 5 chapters into a book and now all of a sudden it's locked. Infuriating! There is no reason to do that beyond greed. It wasn't a free trial or anything, either, I'd intentionally looked for an audiobook that was free. Now it's locked. You can bet that when I do purchase it, it's not going to be on Spotify. 

I am the plan manager and have audiobooks as part of my subscription. I have not exceeded the monthly time limit; however, I have a book I’d like to listen to showing as “locked”. How can I fix this?

I have a title in my Premium subscription that can be listened to through the desktop app but is locked in my mobile app. When I try to play it in my mobile app it tells me that 'titles already purchased through Spotify can be listened to here.' - but it's already included in my Premium subscription so there's no way to purchase it. So how to make it playable on mobile?

Hey Martin, ran into the same problem. Part 1 is locked but part 2 and 3 are included in premium. Is this intentional? I went through the reset you linked and it’s still the same.

I have the exact same issue with the exact same book as others here. A Court of Wings and Ruin. Part 1 is not included in premium, but parts 2 and 3 are, and the rest of the series is included. Help!

I have the same issue… 2 and 3 included, but not part one. I tried reboot the app, déconnecte and connect, another account…. The problem still there.

help me please?

The first part of the dramatized audiobook for A Court of Wings and Ruin is locked with premium, even though every other dramatized version of this entire book series are free with premium. Is this an error through Spotify or is there a way to communicate with the creators that they have one that is locked even though everything else is free on premium.

I was 80% into a book when all of a sudden it got removed and resurfaced behind a paywall. That sucks! How do you expect us to commit to spending hours and additional money on audio book listening when they can just get removed and require the full book purchase on top???

Can I assume you were trying to listen a court of wings and fury? I want to purchase but it isn't clear if it's the whole book or just part 1. 

This is not an acceptable solution. As a member of a family plan, I am now literally blocked from giving you MORE MONEY to purchase and download an audiobook. The stock answer that you can only do it on the web app is BS; if you log into the web app you are automatically logged into your plan and the plan manager either has to add to the subscription and keep topping off, or you cannot use Spotify to listen to your book.Guess what Spotify? There are other audiobook platforms!
