Hey there,

Thanks for reaching out!

To locate the podcast transcripts on mobile, play a podcast episode, open it in full screen and scroll down.
Find 'About this episode', select it and scroll down again - you will find a section named 'Episode transcript'.

On desktop you only need to play an episode. It will open in the right panel of the app and the transcript will be available there when you scroll down.

Note: Whilst the majority of podcasts on Spotify offer transcripts for their episodes, there are some we’re unable to display them for at this time. Rest assured we’re working to improve both the availability and quality of episode transcripts across our catalog of podcasts.

In case you believe a podcast should have a transcript but it doesn't play for you - send us a link to it and we'll gladly take a look.

Hope this helps! We'll be on the lookout for your reply 🙂

My Question or Issue

Hello, I have quite a problem with my hearing; I wonder if from a podcast in Spotify I can recover the text?
Thanks for your help.

Hello,

sorry but I did not find 'Episode transcript'!

Where is it?

Thank you so much

Hey there @papoujl,

Thanks for the reply!

Just to confirm, does the transcript appear for you when following the steps provided earlier in the thread by @Vasil

Keep in mind that on your phone, Read Along will only appear after you've started playback or if the episode is currently in your Now Playing View. And depending on the app version you're currently running - the transcript will either replace the podcast's cover photo, or can be found when scrolling down past About this episode/About the podcast.

On the desktop app, however, it can be located only when the Now Playing View is opened on the right-hand side of the screen. It will then show under Read Along when scrolling down on that panel.

Now Playing View button is circled.

Should it still not appear, does this happen with all podcasts and their episodes, or just with specific ones? It's worth noting that if the transcript doesn't show for a certain podcast, it's possible that it's currently not available for specific episodes.

We hope this clears things up! Let us know if any questions appear.

I don't have the transcript options for any podcast episodes. I have tried both on the iphone app, navigating to the "about the episode" section and I have tried the Now Playing View on PC.

There is simply no transcript option for any of them.

Hello,

sorry but I did not see 'about this episode' :

Can you help me?

Many thanks and have a nice day.

Hey there folks,

Thanks for the replies!

Please keep in mind that some podcasts and their episodes doesn't have transcripts at the moment, meaning that the option to switch it on won't appear for those podcasts. We're working to make transcripts available for more content, however 🙂

@papoujl - we also had a look at the podcast you sent over, and it seems like transcripts aren't available for those episodes, which is why it doesn't appear for you. We'll keep our fingers crossed that you'll be able to find it in the future though.

If you'd like to double-check so that the feature is available for you on the current app version (and to ensure that transcripts are working with your account) you can give the following episodes a try:

We're just a post away if you need anything else, cheers!

I tried what you show on your example and it works well.
Hope that it will work soon with my small daughter "it's Clem" actualy traveling.

Have a nice day

I have tried also to find a transcript but I didn't see anything. When I tried from the web player and from the now playing view I didn't see anything other. I was trying to listen to Sidebar: A Suits Watch Podcast. Here are the link https://open.spotify.com/show/3WmfuCfP71p9m7nM30ZIMn

I'm new to this community.

My Question or Issue

I can't access transcript from computer both app and website don't have transcript option (seems like only available from phone) Is this true??

Hi this podcast episode doesn’t have a transcript: https://open.spotify.com/episode/0NITZIssfgRNraXVxqP6DR?si=42EvJufeQ8ytvLshv-0lbw

I am having a similar problem. I see a transcript when listening on my phone, but not in the desktop app.

Hello Vasil

I could see transcript when playing this on my mobile app https://open.spotify.com/episode/17kqsuU9TWa1YRJIcvuNsu?si=edb561a6cd1648a6

but when playing this on desktop app, the transcript does not show.

Is there a way to copy the transcript on mobile app as text, rather than as an image please?

thank you

peiqing

Hey there @Peiqing,

Thanks for your reply here and for the info shared.

Upon checking the episode you kindly shared, it seems the transcript you're seeing is auto-generated. Some creators choose to enable this feature for their shows, and it's only available on mobile phones. In that sense, it's expected you won't see the transcript for this episode on the desktop app.

Keep in mind this is different from the transcript you can read-along in the Now playing view, since in order to access auto-generated one, you need to open the episode itself and go to Episode Transcript.

We can confirm there's no way to completely copy a transcript for a podcast. Nonetheless, you can share a quote from a podcast by opening the Now Playing View, tapping over the read-along transcript and selecting the share option at the bottom. From there, you can choose the quote you'd like to share.

We really appreciate the time you took to let us know about this. We value every piece of feedback you share here in the Community.

We'll be here if anything else comes up. Once again, thanks for the feedback.

I want to search through the auto-generated (non-timed) transcript of a podcast episode to find a specific topic. The mobile transcript viewer is small and rather useless, so I wanted to do it on desktop, but the feature seems to be missing on the desktop app. The "about episode" section in the now-playing window only shows the auto-generated chapters.
