Cannot create an item in a locked collection

I have been using Spotify Premium on Linux Mint since April with no problems. As of today, the Spotify client started crashing upon launch when started from the menu. When started from a terminal, it does launch but generates the following errors:

** Message: 10:05:05.304: Remote error from secret service: org.freedesktop.Secret.Error.IsLocked: Cannot create an item in a locked collection

** Message: 10:05:06.047: Remote error from secret service: org.freedesktop.Secret.Error.IsLocked: Cannot create an item in a locked collection

I have not made any changes to my system so the problem appears to be caused by either the Spotify service or client.
