My Question or Issue

For some reason, whenever I disable shuffle, and do certain things, smart shuffle is re-enabled. Examples of this includes stuff like clicking playlist names (once), or on desktop, closing other windows. On mobile, closing popups or drawers within spotify also forcibly enables smart shuffle

If I manually turn on regular shuffle, it's automatically (visually) switched to smart shuffle at the end of the current song, or if any of the previously mentioned actions happen. Not that it matters, because regular shuffle _is_ smart shuffle now.

Even if shuffle is _completely off_, smart shuffle adds recommendations not in my playlist. This happens even if there's nearly 3000 songs behind it in the playlist, and there's plenty of non-recommendations in the queue.

I do not want smart shuffle, especially on my phone while I'm on cellular data with a limited data plan. Please fix the shuffle button

I experience  here exactly similar problem. I have some 40 playlists on Spotify and all of them forced to Smart Shuffle and adding also artists which  I have banned. This is a chaos and does not encourage me to continue with Spotify at all. The playlists that I have composed are now ruined by the Smart Shuffle.

As you can see the original poster of this topic has not received any replies from Spotify advanced technical desk. I am afraid I will not get any replies from them either.

Spotify should really take the feedback seriously that they receive.

Spotify has listened to user feedback and you can now disable Smart Shuffle from the mobile app settings, as mentioned in this now implemented idea. This setting will also be added to the desktop app in a future update.

Steps to disable Smart Shuffle in the mobile app:

1: Tap on your profile picture at the top left corner

2: Tap on Settings and privacy

3: Tap on Playback

4: Switch Include Smart Shuffle in play modes off

Note: This is for Premium users only and right now it's only available in the mobile app, but in a future update, there will be a setting to disable Smart Shuffle in the desktop app as well.
