Spotify client does not broadcast song metadata when connected to spotify on PS4

My Question or Issue

I've noticed that spotify does not broadcast metadata (correctly) when the client is connected to a PS4 using the 'Connect to a Device'-function. It works just fine connected to my (android) phone. I've two applications that are reading the spotify metadata: the KDE plasma media widget and spotify-music-videos both exhibit the same behaviour. Playing music on my PC or phone works just find, but connect to a PS4 and all of sudden none of them can find the song metadata. I can confirm this issue is also present when remote playback is via Chromecast or an Android device, with one exception: when playing via an Android device, the artist name is displayed.

Seemingly related, the song change notification is also not displayed when playing on a remote device.

When playing locally, the artist and song name are displayed in widget, but no cover image. However, the song change notification is displayed correctly with all info including image.
