Unable to play local files on desktop

I have added some music to Spotify with the local files feature on my desktop but the songs show the error "This song is not available. If you have the file on your computer you can import it." but the same song plays perfectly on my phone. The files are MP3 and both clients (Linux and Android) are up to date.

This sounds like the problem someone asked about yesterday. You are trying play local files on your modern linux desktop, but the spotify client for linux unfortunately requires older libraries for local files to work.
