Update Linux Spotify Client

Solved!

Update Linux Spotify Client

Hello,

I'm very conserned about the updates in the spotify desktop client for linux, there's a bug that is killing the SSD drive, that has been fixed in version 1.0.42. But the latest version of the Spotify Client for linux users is 1.0.38. The version 1.0.42 was released almost a month ago for other operating systems. When is it going to be released for Linux?. For now I've been using Spotify Web Client, but it works really bad.

1.0.42 was released November 7 for linux. I think it was to the testing channel, but it was released to the stable channel a day or two after.

1.0.43 was released to testing last week and today December 1 to stable.

It seems like apt doesn't update properly for you. Did you follow these instructions to download the linux client? https://www.spotify.com/download/linux/

My current version is 1.0.42.151.g19de0aa6 and I use Ubuntu. I don't know exactly when did it update, but I have it up to date. Anyway, I have a problem because I can't play my Local Archives, so I don't really know if having the latest version is going to be the best option, and since the Linux client of Spotify doesn't have official support, I'm struggling quite a bit to solve the problem looking for possible solutions in these forums.

I don't know if the cause of it is a mistake in the version, anyway.

It is sort of related to versions, but of different packages needed to play local files. See this post about your problem.

Thanks a lot, I just saw that post of you and it really solved my problem after days of desperation. Thank you very much ๐Ÿ™‚

Checked the repositories and found out that there was an issue with lock files in apt. Fixed this issue. Thanks!
