Auto pause when idle or when screen locks?

My Question or Issue

Is it possible to configure Spotify to stop playing after I have been idle for a period of time, or perhaps after the screen locks? I have searched in the app and in these forums and cannot find the setting.

I just started work today, and realized that Spotify has been playing music since 6PM yesterday. I would prefer that Spotify would automatically stop playing when I am not around.

Hi @Gigglesworth and welcome to the Community! 🙂

Spotify does not have this as a setting feature. But you can put the Mac to sleep or modify your power settings which will disable it playing in the background. 
1. Open System Preferences
2. Open Energy Saver
3. Check the box "put hard disks to sleep when possible"
From here you can also schedule certain times you know you might be away from your computer and it will sleep/wake at the time you request.
