Running on OS X Mavericks. I went to go do something and I came back to my computer and my spotify was logged out and I can't seem to log back in. Is there any sort of backend update that happened recently that would cause this? I would switch to the web player but the audio cuts out after about 10 seconds so I can't use it. I've tried changing settings to select 'No Proxy' but it doesn't seem to do anything.
Hey there folks,
Thanks for reaching out here in the Community.
We understand your frustration and we'd like to explain a bit more of what's happening here.
At Spotify, we are always working to provide our users with the best possible listening experience. We continuously encourage users to use the latest version of our app as it contains the newest features and bug fixes.
To pave the way for a broader and better user experience, we have shut down Spotify desktop application versions that have been released before April 2021. That’s why customers who have been using an app version released before then will lose their access to the app after the sunset.
Older versions of the app often have broken or missing features due to their old interface, which cannot support the latest Spotify experience. In addition some of these old apps have security vulnerabilities associated with underlying older technologies. These vulnerabilities are not available on the latest versions of the app and can only be eliminated by shutting down services built with older technologies.
If you own a computer (Mac or Windows) with a version of Spotify app older than 1.1.59, then you should try to update the app to the latest version to keep enjoying Spotify, we have instructions on this support page to help you. We recommend making sure that your Operating System is updated to the latest version first.
In the meantime, you can also enjoy your favorite music and podcasts through the Spotify Web Player.
Lastly, don't worry - your account is still active and no changes will be made to your playlists, play history or preferences.
Hope this clears things up.
Tried on OSX Mavericks, doesn't work at all
Same for me. And on reinstall. Works on some machines but not others.
The error message is 409; on incorrect password the error message is incorrect password, so it's clearly not any kind of a network issue.
I received an email from Spotify a few weeks ago informing me my OS was out of date and Spotify would stop working from today. I’m on OS 10.10.
Same here. I cleared all Spotify cache and restarted my computer and reinstalled. Saying the same thing :((
Exact same issue! Glad to see others are encountering this. The app has the same error on my PC but I can use it on my phone no problem
I'm getting this error too. Premium user for at least a decade. Suddenly doesn't work on Linux. wth?
Exact same issue here.
OS 10.9.5
Why punish us like that?
I'm having the same exact trouble. I've been on a chat session with Spotify for 2 hours now (5 different agents). I'm using an old Mac Mini (2010). Spotify has worked fine on it for 2 years, but this morning.... error code 22, baby!
Same for me. I was running an older version of the app as the new interface freaking sucks. Is this their final blow? I'm leaving. I am done with Spotify. Hundreds of playlists I now cannot correctly navigate.
same
I just deleted the app and reinstalled it on my desktop ... and it now works just fine.
Same issue, it was working perfectly until this morning, I was automatically logged out and gave me that error: 22 (screenshot), never had this happen to me before.
I fixed this on Pop!_OS by uninstalling the Pop!_OS (deb) and installing the flathub (flatpak) version on Pop!_shop
@1189088033, you’re correct. I do not understand why they are waging a war against a small group of harmless people who are very happy to pay, but want to keep using a somewhat older version of the official app.
My 1.1.32 stopped working this week, too. I don’t know where to go now. Do I succumb to the terrible newer UI? Do I subscribe to another streaming service (are their apps even better?) ... I mean, the Spotify iOS app has been awful too for a long period, so I won’t miss that either.
I’d pay double for the OG (light gray) version, man. I loved Spotify back around 2011-2014. They killed that version (and the last desktop app that worked on PowerPC Macs) a few years back, as well as the original app later named “Spotify for iOS 6”. Nowadays, I carry an iPod with me everywhere I go.
Not exactly impressed with Spotify Support... waiting to hear from "Tier 3". about this same issue that I have not been able to resolve even after deleting all associated files and doing a clean install.
same thing happened to me- removing and reinstalling does nothing. Guess I'll have to use the browser version until Spotify fix this.
This also happened to me. I used version 1.0.90 and login is suddenly impossible. I've been using spotify since 2016 but I hate the gui of the latest version. It consumes too many resources. Is the older version of Spotify no longer available? I'm serious.

So, whats clear to me there's no solution in the foreseeable future for people who can't or won't buy a new computer.
Sad but here's were the story with Spotify ends for me.
I’m so glad I found this thread. I thought I was going mad. I’ve tried all the firewall settings, proxy settings, installing older versions of the app. = Constant ‘error 22’.
*I’m also using an older Mac and an older OS as there are several other programs on that Mac I paid for that rely on that older OS. So now I can’t use Spotify anymore?!?!
yo no tengo premium y me salio este error por favor ayudenme
