Chrome VS Web App Not Working

This last week the web app stopped working in Chrome, only Chrome, it still works in Safari and Firefox.

Running most up to date version of Chrome on my Macbook and an older version on my iMac, same results on both.

The timeline moves as if the song is playing, but no music comes out. If I press pause, the timeline moves all the way back to the start, and if I press play again, it starts moving from the beginning of the timeline and still no music.

Thanks for reaching out. Does sound work as expected in Chrome with other audio sources? In other words, does only Spotify have this audio issue? Also consider trying in an incognito window and see if the behaviour remains the same.

I discovered the problem was this extension to adjust playback speed of podcasts. Uninstalled and Spotify magically started working again, reinstalled and it stopped working again. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/spotify-playback-speed/bgehnoihoklmofgehcefiaicdcdgppck
