Mac Desktop App won't search and doesn't quit

Mac Desktop App won't search and doesn't quit

I have had this problem which seems relatively common based on searching the community but all the suggested fixes don't work.

I'm on Mac 10.13.2 (High Sierra), I've tried reinstalling twice, restarted and shut down both application and then computer. Logged out and on. I can't find the Cache in High Sierra like I used to to be able to erase it and at this point I've run out of options. Likely related, if I quit spotify, it pauses, stops responding, and needs to be force quit. And this is after allowing it an hour to try and quit without success.

It works on my phone but if I'm paying monthly for a Premium subscription, it's silly to have to use my phone to play music when I'm on my desktop.

I would like either an aswer of what to do to permanently fix this or at least an explanation what process is getting stuck and is causing the program to not quit, not search, and sometimes even not play songs. Thanks

I have similar issues and a poor experience with the Mac desktop app. My internet connection is fine, everything else works fine, the music even continues on Spotify, but often times when I try to search an artist/song or click a playlist, it's just a black screen or stuck on the spinning wheel forever.
