Music Stops After 15 Minutes

Hi folks,

I'm running Spotify on an older iMac. It's alwys worked fine, despite the OS (OS X 10.6.8) and the hardware being pretty old.

But all of a sudden the last few days the app is just stopping the music after about 15 minutes. When I open the app and start the music, it plays completely normally for about 15 minutes or so (14 minutes and 54 seconds, to be exact the last time I tried it). Then, right between songs, it inexplicably stops playing and won't play the next song no matter what I do.

So far, the only "fix" I've discovered is to quit the app and restart it. Then the next song will play.

Any thoughts on what's going on and why this all of a sudden started?

Officially, Spotify only supports macOS / OS X 10.9 and above.

However, you can try a clean reinstall to see if that helps but since your version of Mac is no longer supported, it is not guaranteed to run properly.

Also, if you are running an older version of Spotify, it might stop working due to Spotify server updates that happen over time. It is suggested to keep the Spotify app up to date, which is not always easy on an old computer.
