Spotify app and website is not loading on my computer

Spotify app and website is not loading on my computer

I had a connection issue on my Spotify desktop app (Mac). Someone here suggested I try reinstalling it. But now I'm having trouble accessing the download page. It just doesn't load.

Here is what has happened

  1. Spotify app not connecting to internet
  2. Trying to reinstall app and deleted the appropriate files detailed here: https://support.spotify.com/lv/article/reinstallation-of-spotify/
  3. Unable to access the Spotify download page http://www.spotify.com/download
    Error message:

    This site can’t be reached
www.spotify.com took too long to respond.
    Try: Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall

Also:

  • I have no firewalls
  • Web player works
  • On mobile: app and website works, even on the same network
  • Site doesn't work on all the browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari)

Anyone have any ideas to fix this???

Do you have some kind of ad blocker or any other type of security on your Mac?

Nothing beyond what comes with OSX. No ad-blockers or anti-virus.

Did you manage to solve the problem?

Same thing has happened to me.  Would love a solution!

Nope, still no luck. Apple suppport also looked into it and had no luck. They suggested I reformat the computer as a next step.

Honestly, it's less hassle to switch to Google Play.

I am also having this issue. Wouldn't reformatting your computer erase everything? So they are asking you to backup your computer, then puroposely wipe it, and reinstal? That is crazy! Did you update your software by chance? I did that somewhat recently and wondered if that effected it. It still works on my phone and work computer, so it's pretty annoying. It's literally a black screen.

Yep, basically wipe the computer and hope for the best. I updated the software after the issue started, hoping it would fix the problem, but it didn't.

It works everywhere else for me too, except when I use it most, during work. Would love to know if you find a solution. 🙂
