"Downloading of offline songs failed. Maybe the disk is full?" when computer has lots of space

Plan: Premium (Family)

USA

Device: Macbook Air 13-inch 2019

Operating System: macOS Mojave

I have been using Spotify for two years and this issue has never happened to me.  I downloaded the Spotify App onto my new Macbook Air.  All of my songs were there, but, unlike what I could do on my old computer, my playlists refuse to download to the device.  Instead, an error message pops up in a small blue window at the top saying "Downloading of offline songs failed. Maybe the disk is full?"  I have already tried the following:

  • deleting Spotify and its associated files and redownloading it onto my computer
  • signed out of one of my 5 devices associated with my Spotify account and deleted Spotify from that device
  • looked at the remaining Storage capacity on my Macbook Air (there's still plenty of space -- 267 GB)

I would really appreciate the help of the Spotify community to solve my issue.  Thank you so much!

Ha! I figured out my problem. Transferring data from an old computer to a new computer, especially Macbooks, requires repairing the computer's Library.

I used the links (see below) to fix my Library.  Essentially, the Permissions need to be reset on the new computer.  Just follow the directions in these links for more help and troubleshooting options:
