All my PRIVATE playlists have been made public by you. How do I undo that?

Premium/Windows.

You have probably buried this 'move' in one of your incessantly update EULAs, I only care about setting all of my playlists to private again without having to go to each one and tick a box.

How?

Hi there @Photon123,

Thanks for reaching out.

Don't worry, Spotify won't make your playlists fully public unless you explicitly specify so. There was a change to how playlist privacy works that was done quite a while ago so it's likely what you're referring to is a part of that. Still though, the playlists that you haven't publicized yourself should still be private now.

In the new system, there are three levels of privacy:

  1. If you select "Make public" on a playlist, other people will be able to access that playlist if provided with a link, but these playlists will not be visible on your profile. In most cases, new playlists should default to this setting unless otherwise specified.
  2. If you select "Make private" only you will be able to view that playlist. Other users won't be able to open it even if provided with a direct link.
  3. If you select "Add to profile" this will make the playlist public and make it visible on your Spotify profile.

Most likely, your playlists are on the first status - not visible, but accessible by others. Hopefully this is a sufficient level of privacy. If it isn't, you can always make them completely private, but you will have to do this one at a time.

You can find the full detailed information about the topic in this article and this article.

Hope this clears things up.

As in, when I click to view my profile, I see under "public playlists" all of my playlists, yet when I right click on them there is an option to "make public" indicating they aren't actually public yet. Additionally under my name it says "74 public playlists" when in reality I believe I only set 2 to public.
