My Question or Issue

When using the desktop app from the windows store or downloaded from the website the app will stutter during playback and act like the app has frozen for a second or so.

  • Tested web player and it works flawlessly
  • Ensured notifications were set to do nothing
  • Performed clean install
  • OS has been updated to most recent version
  • Disabled Hardware Acceleration
  • Issue persists when playlist has been downloaded
  • Issue does not happen when in offline mode
  • Stutters correspond with a spike in ethernet usage (See attachment)
  • Changing Streaming quality from Automatic to Very High seems to minimize but not fix the issue.

Hey there @robvyvey

Welcome to the Spotify Community. That doesn't sound cool, let's see how we can help.

Just to confirm, have you already tried accessing your Spotify account through the app on a different desktop device? This will help clarify whether what you're experiencing might be a device-related issue.

We also suggest you check the app permissions of your PC in order to ensure the app has a proper access to the device.

Here you can find more info about issues causing this app behavior.

Hope this helps. We'll look out for your reply!

I've removed some application connections but the issue is still happening. The new thing I've noticed is when ever the program has one of these micro freezes Spotify has Windows Problem Reporting come up associated with it.

After some extra annoying diagnostic stuff it looks like a corrupted system file was to blame and reinstalling windows was the solution.
